It is not all that I hoped, but having not painted for 7 or so years, and only having a couple days to draw and paint it, it's not bad... not comparable, but not bad. I have learned that I'm a very slow painter, and that painting is a LOT of work... and that I will probably not paint for a school project again. :P I enjoyed it though, and am glad that I did paint for this project.

The Painting Begins

I Paint over the compass and draw the figures

ReplyDeletedeath and life, spring and fall, change of season and farming. It all makes sense... except for the worn out barn in the lower right, it must have some personal significance for the artist.
ReplyDeleteThis would also make for an awesome country/heavy metal mix album cover.
lol... very astute Reza. Very. The falling wheat pool in the lower right was added as a personal comment... rather than following with the flow and language of the painting. I probably should not have included it, and instead put a construction vignette in it's place... however I find it interesting that as each small town slowly transforms, it demolishes and documents the demolition of it's wheat pools. I found it significant in the lack of permanence within small town communities.
ReplyDeleteI also stylized both figures, by making both much taller than real life, long legs on the goddess of grain (Ceres) and taller than life Grim reaper.
