I love it because it features different cities often within Canada and tells you all the neatest places to go in that city. Sometimes it's world class spas, sometimes it is cultural attractions, and sometimes it is the cities' newest trends. Vancouver's newest trend is towards the Third Wave Coffee movement. What is this you ask?
First wave coffee movement is just to go somewhere and have a cup of coffee without any thought to where the bean came from, just a simple cup to wake you up in the morning. (Think Tim Horton's)
Second wave coffee is espresso based coffee. This includes lattes, cappuccinos, etc. (Think Starbucks)
The third wave Coffee brings the quality and experience of the coffee up to the level of sipping fine wines and whiskeys. The third wave movement includes atmosphere, and making the cup of coffee a work of art.
While I was on the plane I wrote down the itinerary that the magazine set out. The following is a week worth of wonderful Third Wave Coffee experiences:
Monday is about Downtown Vancouver.
Start the day off easy and head to the Vancouver art gallery and enjoy art for the day.
Then, in the Afternoon, take a load off and head to Caffe Artigiano.
Tuesday is in Kitsilano.
Start this day off going to 49th Parallel. Enjoy the Kits area and then head to The Elysian Room in the afternoon.
Wednesday is at Grandville Island.
In the Morning go to Wicked Cafe. Everyone knows that Grandville Island has lots to do and see! Then get yourself to Argo Cafe, in the afternoon.
Thursday take a wonder to Commercial Drive.
Bump into interesting people and have someone grind some coffee beans at the Bump N Grind in the morning. Buy a new pair of shoes, or a nice jacket and in the afternoon go to Prado Cafe.
T-G-I-Friday on Main Street.
Gene's Coffee Bar is the recommended hot spot for this morning. And a wonder around you can have a nice cup of the hot stuff at Our Town Cafe, Rhizome, SOMA, or Re-Entry Espresso, all within walking distance. :D
I'm soo gonna do this one day. But thought I'd share so everyone else who decides to visit Vancouver can enjoy the wonder's of the Third wave coffee movement.
On a side note... It was my parent's anniversary today... as a recommendation to everyone: When it is your parent's anniversary... Call to congratulate them in the afternoon... not the morning... I stand traumatized due to my making this dramatic error.

Too bad coffee doesn't settle well with me :(
